Archetypes are an energy, an essence, a frequency within the collective unconsciousness. They are a myth that we remember. They are a knowing, a gnosis, within ourselves and within our very cells. We are all connected through the collective unconsciousness and our shared mythos, fables and tales.
When you begin to awaken to the power of working with archetypes, you will notice them everywhere. They are reflected back to us in movies, TV shows, books, tarot cards, even our astrological signs are archetypal energy going back to our very ancient ancestors who communed with the stars.
Archetypes date back as far as Plato and in our modern era were popularized by Carl Jung through his use of psychological archetypes in 1919. Archetypes transcend timelines, cultures and traditions.
They are all connected and they weave in with our everyday lives, thoughts, behaviors and patterns.

Some days we embody one archetype more than another.
Some cycles in our lives we embody many for a reason.

We can call upon their strengths and invoke their essence to carry us through a chapter in our lives. And we carry them call upon them when we need their energy, strength and capacity to expand our own understanding and abilities because we are in relationships with them. Because we know them, because we are them.
This is the power and potential you create when working with the sacred archetypes.
This is the beginning of the journey to know thyself.

My Own Archetypal Journey

I will never forget the day I chose to step through the hospital doors as a Sovereign Queen.
It had been an exhausting 48-hours. My father had been rushed to the ER while visiting my sister and I from across the country. When I got to the hospital it was only minutes before they asked if they could intubate him and put him on a ventilator and pump his body with all the medication required to bring up his dropping and failing blood pressure. He was at the precipice of death. And we were devoted to his intentions which we believed at the time were to live. He survived the first 24-hours against all odds. The second 24-hours was another miracle. The doctor told me he still only had a small percentage (about 5-15%) to make it through. I did not know it at the time but it would be another 35 long days until he woke up from a medically-induced coma.
In the midst of all this my sister and I were navigating the challenges of daughters wanting to be present for their father and the demands of four children between the two of us ranging from four years old to four months old. I felt myself knowingly step into my power in the midst of the chaos. Things became clear and moved in slow motion - for days - as if I knew exactly what to do and when. Trust coursed through my veins and a willingness to show up and ask for support.
That morning I drove my tired, exhausted body to the hospital but I felt a wave of energy at my back - as if all the prayers from our friends, family and community were working on my behalf.
I pulled into the hospital parking lot not yet crowded with mid-day visitors ready to be present for the morning rounds. This was my one chance to have all doctors and specialists at the same time at the threshold of my father’s door. Most refused to even make eye contact with me already dismissing this as a lost case. But I was committed to bringing my father’s life force and wishes to the forefront. As I walked through the sliding doors of the hospital I imagined the royal robes being cloaked around me and the crown of sovereignty being placed on my head. I stood up straighter. I inhaled a breath of wisdom preparing for the council meeting of the day. As I entered the elevator and pressed the number 3 for the third floor where my father was lying lifeless in the ICU, hooked up to machines helping him to breathe, keeping him sedated and attempting to sustain his body through a very long battle. I knew he was still there. He was a warrior and I could feel his fighting spirit though quiet, still very present and desiring to see and hold his four grandchildren again. I knew I had to be his voice, I knew I had to show up in my power and sovereignty so that I could support his own quest and the journey of a family on the brink of death, transition and miracles.
It was time to embody the Sovereign Queen within.

The Archetypal Journey
Working with archetypes has been influential throughout my own journey but especially in the more challenging chapters of my life. Working specifically with an archetype has powerfully carried me through a time of life filled with uncertainty, caregiving for an ill parent while mothering two young children, chasing my own dreams and working through the multi-faceted layers of marriage.
Embodying the archetypes and working with the feminine energies has allowed me to be a tower of strength and fortitude even as I descended into the cave of the unknown, even as I mothered and loved while Death stood at our doorstep patiently waiting and weaving her web, even when I felt so tired - I did not feel alone. I was not in despair. I was not lost. I felt energized, clear and focused in my roles and responsibilities. I had support within that allowed for me to be a compassionate, fierce yet gentle caregiver, mother, partner, entrepreneur and not descend into total darkness and despondency.
The archetypal journey has been so profoundly powerful in
carrying me through many challenging seasons and times in my life.
